What is Vault?+
Vault is peer-to-peer fashion rental, sharing, and resale for a Gen Z, high-fashion audience. We hold no inventory, people list pieces from their own closets, and others borrow through a trust graph of people they actually know.
Is borrowing really free?+
Yes. Right now, borrowing between close friends costs nothing. Communities will be able to rent for a fee soon, and buying and resale come after that.
What happens if an item comes back damaged or late?+
If an item is late, the borrower gets reminders and a 48-hour grace period before any deposit is captured. Nothing is silently auto-charged, a human reviews every case.
How does the deposit work?+
Every borrow is protected by a refundable security deposit hold, 50% of the item's declared value, placed on the borrower's card when the borrow starts. It's a hold, not a charge: it's released automatically once the item comes back on time and in good shape.
How do I get my item back as a lender?+
You set the borrow window when you list it, 3 to 5 days. If it runs late, the borrower gets reminders and a 48-hour grace period, and a human reviews the case before anything is captured.
How do hand-offs work?+
Items are handed off in person, and both people confirm the hand-off in the app, so there's a clear record on both ends.
Do I need to enter a card to sign up?+
No, a card is only added when you make your first borrow request, not at signup.
How do you handle expensive or designer pieces?+
High-value listings, $500 and up, get an extra authenticity review before they go live.
